The Sanibel Public Library has been recognized as one of the best libraries in the country. Library Journal named it a 5-Star Library in its annual America’s Star Libraries survey. The Journal examined the annual number of library visits, circulation, program attendance and public internet computer use for more than 7,000 public libraries nationwide, awarding various rankings to 260 libraries. Sanibel Public Library ranks near the top for service and use across Florida Public Libraries. Sanibel Public Library has also won TripAdvisor’s Certificate of Excellence for the past three years. At the Sanibel Public Library islanders find an oasis within their island – an atmosphere charged with creativity and the lively exchange of ideas. The Sanibel Public Library is the community’s link to ideas, information and resources. The Sanibel Public Library technology center is the information hub for the community, utilizing current technologies and high speed Internet access to improve library services.  The Sanibel Public Library  incorporates a powerful WiFi Network both inside and outside of the building open 24/7 to to patrons. To connect to the Sanibel Public Library WiFi select ‘Sanibel Public Library’ in your wireless network selection menu. The library includes a business computer lab, a public lab, and teen computer lab. Each computer lab area features new desktop Windows and Apple machines with 100 megabyte internet connection and printing. The Library also has several kiosks and terminals for convenience and access to digital resources and services. The library also has a selection of computer equipment (laptops, scanners, printers, etc.) and audiovisual materials (CD and DVD players, etc.) for use. In addition, computers can be checked-out from the ‘Tech-It-Out’ Kiosk near the circulation desk. Faxing, printing, scanning, and copying is available near the front circulation desk. To send a fax, the fee is $2.00, for Black and white prints it is $0.10 per sheet, and color costs $0.20 per sheet. The technology department also host various programs and educational programs throughout the year.
