During the current phase of Sanibel Public Library’s “Your Library Reimagined” project, the Library is open for normal operating hours. Look for the interim “main” entrance and outdoor book drop on the west side of the Library. Popular services are available—like computers and printers available for patron use, a “New” book section, high speed Wi-Fi, an interim Children and Teen Space, seating areas to read newspapers, used books for sale, self-checkout stations, and reference services. The newly-expanded screened-in Reading Porch is especially popular, for reading, using WiFi, or enjoying wildlife and water views.

Rita Tarr McClain, of the Sanibel-Captiva Art League, is exhibiting ten of her paintings in the “reimagined” space.

Weekly Children’s programs are listed on the Library’s online calendar.

The other half of the Library is being renovated – electrical, plumbing, fire suppression and technology infrastructure is being upgraded. Crews are making space for larger windows, and will be creating a new Children’s and Makerspace Area, additional service points, Book Sale Room, and modular meeting places.

The next phase is expected to be fully operational in early Fall 2018.
